For those who love a runny, golden yolk, poached eggs are the way to go.
But they’re not the easiest egg to perfect – do you use the whirlpool method? Do you need to add vinegar? There’s so much to consider.
Well now, thanks to a savvy mum, poaching eggs have never been easier.
Charlotte Lock, from Bournemouth, often shares handy tips and tricks with her 55,000 followers on TikTok, where she’s known as @thebournemouthmum.
From how to keep sandwiches fresh if you’re making them ahead of time, to a mess-free way to apply suncream to your kids, but it’s her egg poaching hack that’s got everyone talking.
In a clip that has been viewed more than 1.3 million times, Charlotte demonstrates the simple four-step trick.
Charlotte explains that the first step is to add boiling water to a mug.
Then, add a few drops of vinegar – which helps to bind the egg – to the water along with a cracked egg.
All that’s left to do is to pop the mug into the microwave for one minute, and you’re done!
Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 40,000 likes and almost 700 comments from divided users.
One person said: “I used to do this all the time, definitely works!”
Another person added: “Tried this after seeing the video. Nice trick. No vinegar taste.”
“No wayyy,” said a third.
But some viewers warned not to overcook it, as one person revealed: “Mine blew up… quite a mess lol.”
A couple of people also suggested taking it out at 45 seconds to make sure this doesn’t happen.
